Once a home for the down and out, the old Shawnee County Poor Farm has been transformed into an active community center.  But,  hints of its rich and fascinating history still abound.  Susan Fowler-Hentzler, Director of the Shawnee North Community Center has researched the history of the facility, and will share some of its secrets.

Church records can sometimes be invaluable in filling in gaps where other vital records don't exist, as well as providing rich context and detail about the lives of our ancestors.  But, finding the church records pertaining to your family can be challenging.  This class will explore the types of records typically kept by various religious denominations, and provide tips for locating historic church records.
