Special Interest Groups

Our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) gather to learn and share about a particular area of genealogy-related interest. Less formal than a structured class or workshop, they may include presentations during some meetings, but always include time for questions, answers and sharing of information among and between group members.

We will be offering  Special Interest Groups in the following areas for 2022:

Computer Genealogy and Software Group: Meets on the 2nd Thurday of each month, at 9:30am, via Zoom. This group will discuss tips and tricks for using the popular Family Tree Maker software application, and other more general computing issues related to genealogy research.  The group is facilitated by Rich McReynolds. See the Events Calendar for details and information on how to get a links to the meetings.

Brick Wall Group: This group meets monthly to help each other solve down the brick wall problems that are blocking progress on their family history research. The group will meet on 3rd Tuesday of each month, at 9:30am and is be facilitated by Cindy Cruz. See the Events Calendar for details and information on how to get a link to the meetings.

Foundations of Family History Research:   The group will meet monthly on the first Tuesday, at 7:00pm, via Zoom to build and strengthen basic skills in genealogy and family history research.  Each month will include a short program on a specific record set or research method, followed by some open time for questions and answers on any genealogy-related area.  Led by Barb LaClair. See the Events Calendar for details and information on how to get a link to the meeting.
