CALL FOR PRESENTERS
2021 Heartland Family History Conference
May 7-8, 2021 in Topeka, Kansas
(Although we are currently planning for an in-person event, we will be making contingency plans to convert to a virtual event if COVID circumstances require us to do so.)
The 2021 Heartland Family History Conference planning committee is soliciting proposals for breakout sessions and workshops. We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic presenters. If you are passionate about your area of expertise and would like to share your love and knowledge with fellow genealogists and family historians, we would be pleased to hear from you and welcome your submission for presentations!
The featured speaker for our 2021 Conference will be Billie Stone Fogarty, who will be presenting four lectures (topics not yet selected). Topical areas of high interest include, but are not limited to:
- Research methodology, both basic and advanced levels
- Lectures that highlight specific record groups, special collections or repositories
- Technology and tools in genealogy research
- Cultural diversity in settlement of the Central Plains region
- American migration, trails and maps
- DNA testing and genetic genealogy
- Dating and preservation of photographs
- Oral history and family history writing
Breakout session and workshop presenters will be provided with complimentary registration to the full Conference event, access to the digital electronic conference syllabus, plus $100 per lecture if all deadlines for advance submission of syllabus materials and slides are met. Unless a presentation is specifically supported by a conference sponsor, no additional compensation for travel or lodging expenses will be provided.
Prospective speakers may submit up to four proposals. All proposals must be submitted through our online portal; no paper submissions will be considered. For your reference, questions that are asked in the online submission form are included in the downloadable document below. Presentations for breakout sessions should be 60 minutes in length, including time for any question and answer periods. Workshops may be up to 3 hours in length.
Submission deadline: November 30, 2020.
Each submission will be reviewed and evaluated. We anticipate that selection decisions will be made and submitting presenters will be notified by December 31, 2020. Selected presenters will receive an email of acceptance to the conference as a presenter.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!!!!!
