In addition to the genealogical resources available at the Kansas Historical Society’s Archives and the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, we maintain an independent genealogical library with an impressive array of source materials. Our library collection includes more than 11,000 items, including materials from every U.S. state, and some international materials. In addition, there are numerous “how-to” books, family histories, maps, original Shawnee County Naturalization, Probate books and marriage license applications (1860s – 1920s) from the Shawnee County Courthouse, and a unique collection of more than 800 volumes from the Columbian Title Abstract Company in Topeka. We have a strong collection of genealogical periodicals, that includes more than 700 publication titles. Be sure to check our convenient online catalog to see what we might have that could be of help in your research.

The library is open to the public, and we welcome visitors. Please stop by to see what we have to offer.
